Nach
der Auflösung der Metalband Desolated war Gründungsmitglied
Gernot auf der Suche nach einem neuen musikalischen
Betätigungsfeld. Was ursprünglich als Spielerei im heimischen
Wohnzimmer begann, entwickelte sich recht schnell zu einem kreativen
Bandprojekt mit der damaligen Partnerin Marion, die die Kompositionen
von Gernot mit ihrer Stimme komplettierte.
Im Jahr 1998 erschien die Demo-CD "Soufre", welche rasch Gehör und
Anklang in der Gothic Szene fand. Schon wenige Monate später war
mit Trisol aus Dieburg ein Label gefunden, welches die in den
darauffolgenden Jahren sämtliche Pilori-CDs veröffentlichte.
Bald folgten die ersten Auftritte der Band. Dank der engagierten
Bookingarbeit von Motherdance (Patty Hele) konnte das Duo zusammen mit
namhaften Künstlern der Szene (hierunter Sol Invictus, Sieben,
Gitane Demone oder Ordo Rosario Equilibrio) in ganz Europa
unvergessliche Konzerte absolvieren. Im Laufe der Jahre wurden immer
wieder verschiedene Gastmusiker mit an Board genommen. Insbesondere
Inge prägte den Klang von Pilori durch ihr Bratschenspiel
entscheidend mit und zeichnete sich auch verantwortlich für so
manche Komposition.
Bis zur Auflösung der Band in 2009 wurden über Trisol Music
Group fünf Alben veröffentlicht. Weiters sind zahlreiche
Pilori-Stücke auf Compilations erschienen. Auch einige
Kooperationen und Gastauftritte konnte das Duo verzeichnen. In der
Gothic Szene war die Band über Jahre erfolgreich, die
schwermütigen und oft verträumten Songs erfreuten sich
insbesondere im Bereich Heavenly Voices und Neofolk großer
Beliebtheit.
Noch heute sind Marion und Gernot in zahlreichen Projekten und
Kooperationen aktiv. Gernot hat
nach einigen Releases mit Golgatha nun ein gemeinsames Album mit Tony
Wakeford unter dem Namen Twa Corbies am Start. Mehr über Marions Projekte hier.

After
the breakup of his metal band Desolated Gernot was looking for a new
musical activity. What first started for fun in the living room then
soon developed into a creative band project with Marion who completed
Gernot's compositions with her vocals.
In 1998 their demo cd "Soufre" was released and their music rapidly
found favour with the gothic scene. Only few months later Trisol
released Pilori's first official album "Feuilles Tombantes". Until the
band's end in 2009 all five CDs were released via Trisol Music Group.
Thanks to the good work of Motherdance (Patty Hele) Pilori soon played
concerts all over Europe together with well-known artists from the
scene (e.g. Sol Invictus, Sieben, Gitane Demone or Ordo Rosario
Equilibrio). During the years quite a number of musicians contributed
to the Pilori releases as well as joined them on stage. Especially Inge
and her beautiful viola melodies shaped the music of Pilori. She became
a fix member of the band and contributed her compositions to the album
"Until The Day Dawn".
Many Pilori songs can also be found on countless compilations. Also the
band has always been cooperating with other musicians from all over the
world, be it on cds or lives on stage. For many years Pilori was a
well-known part of the gothic scene with their melancholic and dreamy
songs that were especially successful in the Heavenly Voices and
Neofolk genre.
Today Marion and Gernot are still actively into music with several
projects and cooperations. Gernot has released an album with Tony
Wakeford as Twa Corbies after being part of Golgatha for some years. Marions projects can be found here.
